The Korda Heli-Safe is a lead release clip for helicopter rigs. It works on pressure: when a hooked fish pulls against the angler, the latched clip opens and the lead drops free. This helps when fishing a short hook link with a heavy lead, such as a chod rig at range, or on weedy venues where dropping the lead matters.
Threading a Barrel Bead onto the leader above the Heli-Safe stops the lead discharging if you pick up weed or debris on the retrieve. Once a fish is on, the bead pulls down and the lead can go. If you would rather keep the lead on, a small plastic collar in the kit fixes it in place. Sold in packs of two, in brown or green.
