The Kamakura Wide Gape X is a barbed carp hook built on the original Korda Wide Gape pattern. It has a short shank, a heavily forged bend, a slightly in-turned eye and a beaked point. The wire is thicker than the standard X hook, but the point is finer and sharper.
The points are very delicate, so expect to change the hook after each fish. Each point is covered with a blob of wax, which should be removed carefully before use. It suits both pop-up and bottom bait presentations. Ten hooks come in a box that holds each one in place, in sizes 4, 6 and 8.
